Potty & Toileting Support

Our approach to potty learning is a big milestone for children and families. Our approach is rooted in patience, respect, and following each child’s lead—not in arbitrary age limits or one-size-fits-all rules. Every child develops at their own pace, and our role is to support them in ways that feel safe, comfortable, and empowering.

How We Support Children

  • Tim the Toilet Teacher: A playful friend who explains where pee and poop come from, how the bladder works (with a balloon to show how it fills and empties), and even how many gallons of water a flush uses.

  • Real-life tools: A child-sized toilet, books, dolls, and visual supports help make the process less intimidating and more relatable.

  • Body awareness: Teachers guide children in noticing their body signals through daily “body checks” and open conversations about “our pulse, pee, and poop.”

  • Routine & consistency: Bathroom breaks are built into the daily schedule, so children know when to try—and they’re encouraged to go anytime they feel the need.

  • Social-emotional support: Stories, humor, and calm guidance normalize accidents and celebrate progress.

Partnering with Families

We know toileting is a shared journey. That’s why we:

  • Work closely with families to keep consistency between home and school.

  • Collaborate with our potty training consultant for individualized strategies when needed.

  • Stay flexible—adjusting our approach to what works best for your child.

Our Belief

We don’t set an age limit or “toileting policy.” Instead, we follow the child’s readiness and unique timeline. For us, success means children feel confident, cared for, and in control of their own bodies.
