Mindfulness in Daily Life

Mindfulness is part of the rhythm of the day. Whether during play, meals, or transitions, children practice slowing down, noticing their bodies, and caring for themselves. These everyday moments build steadiness, confidence, and the ability to handle challenges with care

How We Practice Mindfulness

  • Breathing Rituals: Playful techniques like “bubble breaths” or “bunny sniffs” help children find calm in fun, familiar ways.

  • Movement & Stillness: Yoga, stretching, and quiet rest show children how to balance energy with relaxation.

  • Self-Care Spaces: Cozy nooks, mirrors, and gentle tools offer places to reset when they need space.

  • Story & Song: Books, puppets, and music weave mindfulness into moments of joy and imagination.

Our Approach

Mindfulness at AVP is playful, short, and woven naturally into the day. A morning breath, a gratitude circle, or a quiet visit to the self-care station—these simple routines become part of how we care for one another.

Why It Matters

  • Builds confidence and self-trust.

  • Gives children tools to work through big emotions.

  • Strengthens focus and attention during learning.

  • Encourages kindness toward themselves and others.

Breath & Belonging Friends

Blue the Whale and Jack the Rabbit join children in Breath & Belonging. Through stories and playful guidance, they model calming breaths, stretches, and energy resets. These friends remind children that all feelings are welcome and that together we can always find our way back to calm.

Examples of Everyday Ways We Reset…

Cozy Nooks: Private spaces invite rest, reading, and imagination.

Fidget Tools: Textures to press, squeeze, and hold give comfort for big feelings.

Quiet Choices: Headphones let children protect their peace when things feel loud.

Gentle Vibration: Small massage tools help little bodies release tension and refocus.
